Goodwin-Jones Ceramics are husband and wife team Ricard and Julie Goodwin-Jones. Together they create a range of freestanding and two dimensional framed pieces, working solely in Raku. The simple structures of the work direct attention towards the unpredictable colours and textures created by the Raku process (an ancient Japanese method of firing); the final effects can either be subtle and understated or rich and dramatic.
Some of the pieces are made by press moulding the clay, but more often are constructed from several sections of clay into more individual one-off creations.
Now living in France, their work is still very much inspired by colours and textures found in the harbours and coastline of Cornwall, where they were previously based.
