JANE WINTON - After attending college in the 1980s Jane joined an illustrators agency in London and spent 14 years illustrating children’s books, greeting cards, magazine work and much more.
In 1997 she started her own stained glass business taking her illustrations onto glass by firing painted images onto the glass using a traditional stained glass process. She was a member of the Shropshire Guild and Ludlow Designer Makers taking part in shows and taking commissions in the UK and around the world.
After moving from Shropshire to Cornwall in 2005, Jane returned to her first love of painting and developed her now signature folk art style.
“ I have a love of Antique American Folk Art which has influenced my work and a passion for vintage textiles and paper ephemera which I include in many of my paintings. I work mainly in acrylics, with the addition of collage elements and like to mount my work in up-cycled frames. My work is still highly illustrative with every painting telling a story, I leave the interpretation of them to the viewer and hope the my work mostly raises a smile.”
