Sharon Jiggins is a fine art based textile artist and lecturer, and has lived in Cornwall since the late seventies. Drawing her Inspiration from the coastal landscape, she creates vivid colourful hand painted silk seascapes and intricate appliquéd floral works using silk and mixed media textiles.

Sharon studied painting and drawing at Falmouth School of Art and went on to specialise in woven and printed Textiles at West Surrey College, Farnham. After graduating in the early nineties she returned home, lured by the love of the Cornish landscape and the colours of the sea, where she has continued to live and produce her textile pieces inspired by this love.

Sharon resumed her studies in 2008 gaining her post grad in F.E teaching and went on to teach Textile Design in the art department at Cornwall College for many years.

She now splits her time between The Picture House Gallery and producing her own work, with the occasional ‘toe dip’ back into lecturing!
